Inside Santa Venetia

Santa Venetia is a unique San Rafael neighborhood located just east of the Marin Civic Center. Situated near open space including China Camp State Park, Santa Venetia is a combination of an outdoor recreation playground with urban conveniences - including a neighborhood market, local schools, playgrounds, dining and excellent commute options. For the moment Santa Venetia has one of the lower price points in Marin County. We expect that to change as we watch a generational change happening and an influx of first time home buyers and downsizers who want to stay in Marin and keep their tax base. This surge in activity is encouraging multiple offers and over asking sales.

Located near the Bay, with a couple of natural creeks/inlets, the original plan in the 1900’s was for Santa Venetia to become a little Venice, Italy - complete with canals and gondolas. However, two World Wars interfered and now all that remains of the original plan is the name and some street names. Today Santa Venetia is an affordable modern community with parks and playgrounds, open spaces – including Santa Venetia Marsh and San Pedro Mountain Preserve, and is close to shopping and the Civic Center Farmers Market.

The Santa Venetia Neighborhood Association is a voluntary, but active organization. Basic membership is $30 per year. There are several neighborhood events, some organized by the Association and some not. They also produce a neighborhood newsletter: THE COMMNUNICATOR
